Stop making your bed, it’s a matter of health

If you don’t make your bed when you wake up, you are not lazy. You are just taking care of yourself

Newsroom September 15 04:03

According to a research, an unmade bed might look untidy, but it is also unappealing to house dust mites.

The average bed can be home to 1.5 million of house dust mites which feed on human skin.

If we don’t make our bed, the mites will be exposed to fresh air and light and die, according to the experts.

“We know that mites can only survive by taking in water from the atmosphere using small glands on the outside of their body,” Dr. Stephen Pretlove of Kingston University’s School of Architecture said to the BBC. “Something as simple as leaving a bed unmade during the day can remove moisture from the sheets and mattress so the mites will dehydrate and eventually die”, he added.

So, experts recommend not to make our bed for the entire day and if we want to make it, we could do it when we return home. Many of the mites would have died until then.
