Price of democracy: The cost of the three Greek elections for 2015

Greeks spent 111 mln euros in 2015 for the opportunity to state their views - that were largely ignored anyway

As if the problems faced by cash-strapped Greece were not enough, they have to foot the bill for three elections in 2015. The cost:

Snap elections on January 25 – 51.1 million euros
Referendum on July 5 – 26.7 million euros
Estimations for the Septemer 20 elections – 33.2 million euros

Total – 111 mln euros
