A competition, titled “The Day They Came Home”, invites writers to create a fictional narrative of the reunification of the Parthenon Marbles with Greece.
Writers are asked to describe how they imagine the event will occur, touching on issues such as Greek nationalism, diplomacy with the British, how the marbles would be returned, and how Hellenism would be affected.
Writers are encouraged to narrate the return of the Parthenon Marbles to Greece as an inevitability.
Those interested can enter for free. All works must be submitted in English – with a maximum word count of 2,500 – and papers will be judged by an international panel.
Further information can be found on the competition’s website at www.thedaytheycamehome.net, or by visiting its Facebook or Twitter pages.
Prize money has yet to be confirmed, with the competition seeking out crowdfunding to help administer the contest.
