Economy Minister George Stathakis said the government has prepared a package of proposals for the protection of taxpayers primary residences from foreclosure.
A document forwarded to Greek Parliament on Monday was presented after a question posed by socialist PASOK MP Odysseas Konstantinopoulos who asked to be briefed on the government’s plan concerning non-performing loans and whether the reports claiming they will be sold to foreign funds are true.
“Our side has already prepared extensively – with a batch of proposals that include a special provision for the protection of primary residences from auctions- by taking social criteria into account so as to associate the rate of repayment with income,” said Stathakis from the podium of Greek Parliament, while underlining that an independent authority will be set up to monitor the credit worthiness of individuals and legal entities.
