The competition between British retailers over their Christmas adverts is much discussed on social media. This year John Lewis has made a step further and set his Christmas advert in outer space saying ‘Show someone they’re loved this Christmas’.

The touching advertisement is the story of a young girl called Lily. Looking at the moon through the family telescope one night, she’s amazed at what she finds… a man on the moon.

Lily watches as he goes about his chores, all alone up there. She becomes determined to get something to the moon, to send him a message and show him that someone down here is thinking of him.

She eventually managed to send him a present, a telescope, so as he could see her and other people and communicate.
