The Russian pilot who survived the downing of his jet says Turkish authorities did not issue any visual or radio warnings

Captain Konstantin Murakhtin was rescued on Wednesday by Russian and Syrian commandoes and spoke in televised comments from the Russian Hemeimeem air base in Syria.

Mr. Murakhtin  said that they couldn’t possibly have flown over into Turkish airspace because they knew the region like the back of their hand.

“In fact there were no warnings. Neither visual nor radio warnings, so we didn’t change our course. You must understand the difference in speed between a Su-24 fighter and a F16 fighter. If they wanted to warn us, they could “stuck” to our wing. The rocket hit the back of the aircraft suddenly. We didn’t have any time even to try to avoid it,” he said.
