Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras referred to the participation of the IMF in the third bailout program during his interview to public broadcast arguing that IMF’s participation is not necessary causing the reaction of German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble.
Mr. Tsipras argued that IMF’s attitude is not constructive accusing it for asking “absurd” things both from Greece, through hard reforms, and the EU, concerning the Greek debt sustainability.
According to Reuters, Wolfgang Schaeuble when asked in today’s Ecofin regarding the statements made by Tsipras he said that “it is not in Greece’s interest to question IMF’s participation in the rescue program.”
