Olive trees whose ages span from 700 to 1,500 years were “rescued” from Aigio in the Peloponnese and are being transplanted around central locations in Athens as part of a project funded by Greek railways subsidiary ERGA OSE SA.
The trees are being transplanted in front of the University of Athens, one on the corner of Diakou and Syngrou streets, another in a square on the corner of Vassilis Sofias and Vassileos Konstantinou avenues and another in a central location of the National Defence Ministry.
