Israel’s tax authority suspect international supermodel Bar Refaeli and her mother for tax evasion after allegedly not reporting millions of dollars in income earned abroad and on luxury items. Investigations are focused on Refaeli’s free Range Rover and Lexus cars that she received from car companies in exchange for published photos of herself with the cars. Furthermore, she did not pay taxes on a luxury apartment in Tel Aviv, where she lives.
Mother and daughter were briefly detained Thursday and then released. They were questioned in a months-long investigation. Now, the two women have been from travelling abroad for six months without permission from authorities. Refaeli is Leonardo DiCaprio’s ex and famous for her modeling work.
Giora Adereth, a lawyer for Refaeli’s mother, told Israeli Channel 10 TV that “no one here deceived anyone else.”
