Arms and legs are the most common placement for the blackout tattoos, but some even choose to get their chests, backs and stomachs tattooed too.
There is also a hashtag called #blackouttattoo which has 1,807 posts on Instagram, as The Sun reports.
Some of the photos show “half sleeve” tattoo which covers up only half of the arm or “full sleeve”, which runs the entire length of an arm.
One of the artists who specialises in blackout tattoos, Chester at Oracle Tattoo in Singapore, uses Instagram to show off some of those black designs.
