Greek Minister Mouzalas ‘water bombed’ by Lesvos refugees. (Video+photos)

Violence at camp under way

Newsroom April 26 07:48

Greek Migration Minister Giannis Mouzalas faced the anger of the refugees and migrants hosted at the Moria hotspot in Lesvos, during his visit there, Tuesday. Tensions were boiling from early Tuesday at the hotspot with migrants and refugees reacting violently when they were informed that 400 asylum applications had been rejected. After the verbal attacks against Mouzalas migrants threw plastic water bottles against the Minister. The situation quickly escalated, as migrants started pelting rocks and any object they could find against the police who intervened to restore the order. The disruption spread to the whole refugee camp and police were forced to execute the facility from members of NGOs. A special riot police unit is ready to raid the hotspot to restore the calm.
