Despite up to 30% drop in objective property values, the new tax clearances will be calculated based on new rates and other ‘secret’ provisions that are included in the omnibus bill which was tabled to the parliament Wednesday midnight.
At least 800,000 owners of properties with objective value more than 200,000 euros will have to pay from 50 to 3,425 euros more than last year.
Although the government insists that only 1 out of 8 owners will eventually have to pay more money, the Hellenic Property Federation and officials of Finance Ministry estimate that there will be more property owners who will be called to pay an increased ENFIA tax, since the omnibus bill includes the reduction of the tax-free threshold for the additional tax from 200,000 euros to EUR 300,000 euros.
