President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Tuesday warned the European Union that Turkey would block laws related to the agreement to stem the flow of migrants to Europe, if Ankara was not granted its basic demand of visa-free travel.

“If that is not what will happen… no decision and no law in the framework of the readmission agreement will come out of the parliament of the Turkish Republic,” he said at the close of the World Humanitarian Summit in Istanbul, as AFP reported.

He also said that Turkey was not asking for favours adding that “what we want is honesty”. Mr. Erdogan stressed the all countries should cooperate to find solutions on the refugee issue.

He also referred to Western partners highlighting that “it is disturbing that no G7 leader, apart from German Chancellor Angela Merkel, attended the meeting”.
