OTE Group, in cooperation with the Greek Ministry of Culture and Sports, will offer free wireless broadband (Wi-Fi) services at 20 top archaeological sites and museums in Greece. The goal of this investment exceeding €2 million is to promote the Greek cultural heritage through technology and promote the public’s interaction and connection with the sites.
The Minister of Culture and Sports, Mr Aristides Baltas, and OTE Group Chairman and CEO, Mr. Michael Tsamaz visited today the Byzantine and Christian Museum, one of the first sites to offer free wireless internet.
The infrastructure to provide free Wi-Fi at the 20 sites that were selected by the Ministry of Culture and Sports in terms of significance and visitability will be gradually completed by the end of 2017.
Greek and foreign visitors already enjoy free Wi-Fi at the Byzantine and Christian Museum in Athens as well as the Archaeological Museum in the medieval city of Rhodes.
In 2016, free Wi-Fi will be gradually available to the visitors of the following sites: the Acropolis of Athens, the Archaeological site of Knossos, the Archaeological site of Delphi, the Archaeological site of Sounion, the Royal Tombs at Aigai (Vergina), the Archaeological site of Akrotiri in Santorini and the Archaeological site of Delos.
The National Archaeological Museum, Ancient Olympia, the Archaeological Museum of Heraklion, the Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki, the Acropolis of Lindos-Rhodes, Ancient Epidaurus, the Acropolis of Mycenae, Spinalonga, the Museum of Byzantine Culture, Ancient Dodoniand Ancient Corinth will have free wireless internet in 2017.
