German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schauble said Greece had implemented the bulk of all the prior actions demanded in an interview, Friday. Schauble pointed out that Greece was on the path of regaining the market’s trust, while he added that the global economy did not need further support through fiscal measures, but instead countries should focus more on reducing debt levels.
Meanwhile, the German Finance Ministry’s spokesperson, Martin Jager noted that the Greek fiscal adjustment program was not ‘violent’, but necessary given the conditions the economy was in. ‘There was no alternative way’, he commented, during a press briefing. The German official expressed certainty that Athens would implement the third bailout program. ‘Greece is currently demonstrating great zeal in implementing the third program’, Jager said.
