European Stability Mechanism (ESM) director Klaus Regling pointed out a nominal haircut of the Greek debt was unnecessary during a conference in Poland. Regling underlined that European taxpayers had not been burdened by the Greek debt relief of 2012. ‘The previous Greek debt relief in 2012 was in reality a lax in the terms of payments and did not burden European taxpayers’, said Regling.
