Greek PM Alexis Tsipras landed in China, Saturday, on a 5-day official visit in an effort to promote business deals in Greece by Chinese investors. It is the first official visit of a Greek PM in nearly 10 years. Tsipras was accompanied by his wife Persistera and a large delegation made up of cabinet Ministers and business-people. The goal of the visit is to explore the prospects of entering into economic agreements in the fields of tourism, transport, culture and a number of areas. Tsipras’s official program starts on Monday, July 4, when he is scheduled to meet with President of National People’s Congress of China, Zhang Dejiang, while later he will meet with Chinese Premier Li Keqiang and they will sign a common statement proclaiming the upgrading of the Greco-Chinese corporate and strategic relations. China has included Greece in its strategic plans to expand trade in the EU and aims to enter into the Greek railway network. During his visit in China, the Greek PM will sign a series of agreements in the fields of culture, education and importing and exporting deals. The Greek will also meet with the CEO of COSCO, just days after the near debacle of the deal in Greek parliament.
