Newsroom September 19 06:37

The change of the weather started in western Greece on Monday, as the National Meteorological Services had predicted. The first destructions are already seen in Patra and Pyrgos, where heavy rain and strong winds have uprooted trees and house roofs. A tornado is reported to have hit the area of Lapato in Ilia. Damages have been caused too in Amfissa’s marketplace on Monday morning.

For about half hour the roads at Rio-Antirio bridge have been closed for trucks and motorcycles for safety purposes.
In the region of Savalia, a tree fell on a car, while the fire Department has received tens of calls, since the extreme weather conditions also caused a downed power line in a lot of homes.
Cars in Pyrgos – Katakolo main road are moving with difficulty, since lots of trees have fallen on the road.
Same scenery is observed in Patra, where the Fire Department has received over 25 calls because the  heavy winds toppled trees and power lines, closing roads and knocking out electricity.

Storms and high winds have also caused serious damages to the marketplace of Amfiklia, that started on Sunday and is supposed to last until Thursday. Lots of benches broke down and many booths collapsed.
