A plane transporting a Brazilian soccer team to Medellin’s international airport in Colombia crashed overnight, officials said.
Authorities are responding to the plane crash at a hill in La Union, according to the Jose Maria Cordovaairport’s Twitter page. The municipality is roughly two dozen miles from the airport.
The charter aircraft, which took off from Bolivia, was carrying 72 passengers and nine crewmembers, including the Chapecoense Brazilian soccer team that was expected to play in the Copa Sudamerica finals against Atletico Nacional on Wednesday in Medellin.
