Cypriot President Anastasiades is asking for a “truce” from his political opponents

The crucial negotiations are about to start the following days

Newsroom January 17 11:15

Nikos Anastasiades asked for a “truce” in the interior of Cyprus, as the negotiations for the resolution of the Cyprus issue are on a critical point.

He asked for the political parties to stay united together with him in order to reunify the island and make sure the Turkish occupying forces leave Cyprus so that there will be the right conditions to live together again with the Turkish-Cypriots.

What President Anastasiades wanted to make also clear was that, as he said, they shouldn’t worry about the principle positions of the Greek-Cypriot side on these negotiations as he hasn’t deviated from them.

He also added that the key to the solution to the Cyprus dispute is practically in Turkey’s hands, as it is clear so far that they do not want to compromise and move from their positions to meet the Greek side half way.
