In its popular show “Sports Science”, ESPN analyses why the nickname “Greek-Freak” given to the Milwaukee Bucks NBA star, Giannis Antetokounmpo is so fitting for the 22-year-old. The video explains that the 211cm Greek-Freak has the height of a center, and with a wingspan of 221cm is the only player over 208cm that averages more than 5 assists per game. One of the most impressive characteristics that makes it impossible for opponents to stop Giannis in the open court transition is the fact that his 264cm strides (more that the actual length of a deer!) helps him cover the whole court in 10 strides, 3 less than the average MNBA player! Add to that his speed, which reaches up to 27.3km per hour when he is in full flight, and you have a “freak” of nature on the basketball court.
