In a Press Conference held in Washington after Donald Trump’s inauguration the Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs Melvut Cavusoglu stated that Greece in the last country that has the right to accuse Turkey of anything regarding the Cyprus issue.
As he said, Greece and the Greek-Cypriot side should be mature enough and come forward to say what they want and what they don’t want. He also called for Greece not to have an “aggressive stance towards Turkey”.
The strange thing about his statements, though, is that he argued that the Greek side in Mont Pelerin left the table of negotiations as they did, according to him, in Geneva as well, when it has already been known that it was Akinci who left the negotiating table. In Geneva too, the information has leaked -and it has not been denied by the Turkish side- that Cavusoglu left, saying that it is more important to attend to the proceedings regarding the enhanced authorities that will be given to the Turkish President.
