According to the new law the judges are obligated to look into the custody of not only the children of the family but also of the pets if there are any. The law recognizes the pets as “property”, however, the judge must be interested on their well-being after their owners separate.
Animal welfare organizations have applauded the new law, as they were lobbying towards such a direction for a while.
