Commissioner Pierre Moscovici stated after his meeting with the Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras that there must be a balanced program of reforms. He also commented on the February 20th Eurogroup saying that it could set the parameters of an agreement.
The Greek Prime Minister from his side stated once again that a discussion about new measures of even a single extra Euro is destructive.
Mr. Tsipras also underscored the need for tax cuts and a solution on the Greek debt asking for a front of reason” to be formed, as time is a crucial factor and the Commission will be an invaluable ally to this end.
He also pointed out the impressive results of the Greek economy based on data from Eurostat.
Mr. Moscovici answered that these promising results and our estimates indicate that Greece has made an impressive recovery, adding that any decision must be based on real numbers as these are incorporated in the our estimates. He also said that trust is a key-word to get the numbers right.
