The President of the European Council, Donald Tusk said the European Union would uphold its agreement with Turkey over the refugee flows. Mr. Tusk met with Bulgarian President Rumen Radev in Sofia and stressed the EU would try stem the migrant and refugee flows into the continent, while he praised the efforts of Bulgaria to secure its southeastern borders with Turkey to control the crossing of refugees and migrants into the EU. The European official reassured the Bulgarian President that the Union would increase funding to this end if the situation deteriorated. On his part, the Bulgarian President expressed concern over the rising tensions between the EU and Turkey.
