German Chancellor Angela Merkel reportedly reassured Greek PM Alexis Tsipras that she would push for a technical staff level agreement between Greece and its creditors, according to Greek government sources. The two leaders spoke Wednesday over the phone following Mr. Tsipras’s meeting in person with European Council President Donald Tusk, where the Greek PM said he would seek to call for an emergency EU Summit if a deal on the Greek matter was not achieved on Friday’s Malta Eurogroup meeting. Sources close to the Greek government claim Mrs. Merkel told Mr. Tsipras that she was committed to finding a solution and was working towards reaching a successful conclusion on the matter during Friday’s Eurogroup meeting.
