The head of the Greek Orthodox Church, Archbishop of Athens Ieronymos, said the Greek were and would remain Orthodox in their faith, during his message on occasion of celebrations for the Assumption of Virgin Mary on August 15. From Thebes, where the Church leader presided over the liturgy, Ieronymos said in times of need and hardships throughout their history Greeks would always find refuge in churches and venerate the Virgin Mary.
