Shots have been fired at the United States embassy in the Turkish capital of Ankara, broadcasters Haberturk and CNN Turk are reporting.
The shots, fired from a moving vehicle, hit a security guard booth on Monday but nobody was injured with the unknown attacker, or attackers, fleeing afterwards.
Relations between Turkey and the United States have become increasingly strained in recent weeks amid an escalating trade and diplomatic spat which has added to Turkey’s economic woes.
Turkey has refused to release a US pastor detained on espionage and terrorism-related charges while the two countries have slapped tariffs on each other and the US has sanctioned two top Turkish ministers.
The lira has meanwhile lost more than 35 per cent of its value against the US dollar since the beginning of the year.
