Visitors to a remote beach in the southern edge of Greece’s Pelion are in for a treat as the remnants of an ancient mosaic adorn the pebbly beach.
The Theotokos beach owes its name to the chapel of the Virgin Mary, built in 1807.
A few meters from the chapel, in a poorly fenced area, there is what remains of an old excavation effort that has never been completed: a magnificent mosaic section and white marble columns.
The chapel was built on the ruins of the temple of Artemis.
