Up until now, the government in Skopje has not yet allocated the amount of funds that will be spent on the campaign for the referendum concerning the issue of the name, but PM Zoran Zaev believes that the amount will not exceed 400 thousand euros.

Zaev says that his party will try to forge a coalition with as many political parties as possible in order to support the referendum. Meanwhile, according to him, the amount of funds which will be allocated will depend on the number of political parties that will participate in the campaign.

He said that he wishes the referendum to go as quietly as possible. “I believe that in such atmosphere, citizens would be eager to vote in favour of the referendum”, Zaev said.

Meanwhile, the largest opposition party, VMRO-DPMNE said that the government has allocated 1.3 million euros for the campaign. According to this party, the fund in question should be spent on the construction of schools and in the health system.
