Mother-in-laws have a reputation for being somewhat difficult, but for one bride to be her future mother-in-law overstepped the mark.

The blushing bride was left bemused and angry after catching her fiance’s mother doing ‘something disturbing’ with her wedding dress – while wearing no underwear.

The Mirror reports the woman, who has not been named but has shared her story in her shock, is due to get married to her fiancé in Colombia this December.

However her soon-to-be mother-in-law who is “not her biggest fan” is causing a stir by interfering with the wedding arrangements and has done the unforgivable with her wedding dress.

The woman wrote on Reddit : “Future MIL is very upset about our destination wedding.

“She thinks we’ll all be murdered (eyeroll), b***hes constantly about the cost of her airfare, the size of the wedding, the guests that won’t be able to come, the thought of my fiancé getting malaria, the fact that no one in Colombia speaks English…you get the picture.

“I try to limit her exposure to my wedding planning, though when I do this, she complains to my fiancé behind my back on how she’s being excluded.”

The woman goes on to say how her partner’s mum has criticised how “extravagant” her ring is – and that she needs to watch her calories as she’s “getting fat” and won’t be able to fit into her dress.

However, the final straw was when she found her mother-in-law in her bedroom doing something “disturbing” with her wedding dress while she and her partner were putting up a bed in their guest room.

She explains that she left her to her own devices and to watch Netflix while they assembled the bed.

But 40 minutes later, the woman went to the toilet and found her mother-in-law in their bedroom putting her wedding dress on – and she wasn’t wearing knickers.

Things got even worse when she saw her mother-in-law was stuck in it and had torn the sheer back of the dress, broken the zip and left a foot print on the train.

The furious woman wrote: “I asked her, as soon as I got her out of the dress (and I want to note, with HUGE amounts of disgust, that she was wearing no underwear), what the HELL she was thinking.

“She responded that she was just trying to make sure the dress would fit me; because if the dress fit her, then it absolutely fit me too. If it didn’t fit her, then I obviously had some work to do. Nevermind that I just had my final fitting and it had fit like a glove.”

The ordeal left the couple “very disturbed” but to make matters worse, the mother-in-law has not apologised, or offered to pay to fix the dress.
