Ambassador Pyatt says US on Greece’s side for economic recovery

He stressed that Greece should continue with the reforms

Newsroom May 10 01:24

The United States will continue to stand by Greece’s side as a steadfast partner in its economic recovery, said US Ambassador to Greece Geoffrey Pyatt, speaking at the 3rd International Conference of the Economic Chamber of Greece taking place at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center in Athens on Thursday, Athens News Agency reports.

Even though Greece had successfully exited the economic adjustment programmes and was back on the road to economic health and renewed prosperity, “there is still a lot of work to be done,” noted Pyatt. “We in the U.S. want to see Greece implement reforms and improve its international competitiveness so as to leave the crisis era behind for good,” added Pyatt and described the current time “a pivotal moment for the Greek economy, a moment of tremendous opportunity and necessary action.”
