In a climate of broad consensus, the Greek Parliament plenum elected Kostas Tassoulas from New Democracy as its speaker. Mr. Tassoulas’s nomination for the post received 283 votes, a record number. In his acceptance speech before the House, Mr. Tassoulas thanked his colleagues and his constituents who supported him in Ioannina.
