The UK Supreme Court has ruled that British Prime Minister Boris Johnson acted unlawfully when he decided to suspend parliament for five weeks.

Lady Hale, the president of the UK Supreme Court, ruled on Tuesday that Johnson’s advice to the Queen was “unlawful, void and of no effect”.

The UK government had argued that this was not an issue for the courts.

The parliament was suspended on September 9 with Brexit deadline day fast approaching.
