A fire broke out on Thursday afternoon in a forest area in Sapes, Rodopi.

The fire brigade has managed to contain the fire front, but the operation is still ongoing.

Earlier an order was given to evacuate a settlement in Sapes, as the flames approached the houses.

According to xronos.gr, the local parish opened its doors for people to enter.

Local cultural associations did the same.
