All is left for the finalization of the partnership between the two companies in the field of Renewable Energy Sources is the approval of the managements of DEI (Public Power Corporation S.A) and the German RWE.
This development will “unlock” a project of 2 GW photovoltaic projects, mainly in Western Macedonia.

The agreement is reportedly expected to be approved within the next week. Its implementation will be undertaken by a joint company, in which the two companies will be invited to contribute equally to the photovoltaic portfolio and the projects will proceed right after the licensing.

“The interest for investments in Greece remains strong”, noted in a post on Twitter the Minister of Development and Investments Adonis Georgiadis, on the occasion of “the important agreement for cooperation between DEI and RWE”.

Specifically, as the Minister announced “with the Minister of Environment and Energy Costas Skrekas, the Secretary General of Energy and Mineral Resources Alexandra Sdoukou, the President and CEO of DEI George Stassis, RWE CEO Dr. Rolf Martin Smith and the coordinator of the Fair Development Transition Plan of the regions of Western Macedonia and Megalopolis, Costas Mousouroulis, we discussed the important agreement for cooperation between DEI and RWE. The interest for investments in Greece remains strong”.

At a recent event of the Hellenic-German Chamber, RWE representative George Paterakis confirmed that the two companies have reached the basic terms of the agreement. He spoke of “promising cooperation”, adding that the two companies would soon be able to announce more and specific details.

DEI and RWE have signed a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation in the fields of Renewable Energy Sources in Greece until 2028.

DEI Renewables is a 100% subsidiary of the Public Electricity Company and has been dynamically active in the Greek RES.
