Former President of the Hellenic Republic Karolos Papoulias passed away this morning, December 26, 2021, aged 92.
He was born in the village of Molyvdoskepastos, Ioannina and was the son of Lieutenant General Grigorios Papoulias.
Karolos Papoulias served as President of the Hellenic Republic from 2005 to 2015.
He was a PASOK executive, a close associate of Andreas Papandreou and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister or Undersecretary in other ministries throughout Andreas Papandreou’s governments.

He was married to Maria Panou and had three daughters.
The President of the Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou, expressed her condolences for the ouster of Karolos Papoulias.
