Ruling New Democracy leads the main opposition party of SYRIZA by 11.8 percentage points, according to the latest poll by Metron Analysis for Mega channel.
Meanwhile, PM Kyriakos Mitsotakis maintains a large 23-point lead over Alexis Tsipras, based on the answers by the respondents about the two political leaders. There is also a large gap between them in terms of who is the most suitable for prime minister, with Mitsotakis leading by 20 points – 36% to 16%.
A notable finding is that the Movement for Change (KINAL), under its new leadership, appears to be increasing its percentages even in relation to the measurements that were made in mid-December, immediately after the election of Nikos Androulakis. It is recorded with 15% in the intention to vote and with 18.5% in the voting estimate, while Nikos Androulakis himself appears with 8% in the question about the most suitable for the position of prime minister.
In the intention to vote, ND is clearly first with 29.1%, showing an increase of 1.6 percentage points, while SYRIZA is also up, with 19.6% from 18.1% in December. The Movement for Change also shows a marginal increase of 0.4 points.
Regarding the other parties, the Communist party (KKE) appears stable (5.4% in the measurement from 5.3% in the 2019 elections) with the Greek Solution of Kyriakos Velopoulos showing an increase, reaching 5% from 3.7% from the national ballot box of 2019. An increase is also evident by the Varoufakis party, which was recorded at 4.1% from 3.4% in 2019.
The public’s fatigue from the pandemic is clear, as 81% say its effects are “very or quite significant” in their personal lives, with only one in five saying “little or nothing”.
56% are negative about the way the government managed the pandemic with one in three saying they have a positive view.
