Turkish Interior Minister spreads fake news again: “Greece drowns immigrants in the Aegean”

He posted a video of someone claiming he was thrown into the Sea by Greeks

Newsroom February 1 01:51

New fake news from The Turkish Minister of Interior Suleyman Soylu is provocatively spreading fake news against Greece again, claiming in a post on social media that the Greek Coast Guard was “drowning” immigrants in the Aegean Sea.

Soylou claims that men of the Hellenic Coast Guard threw into the sea three immigrants who tried to cross illegally to Greece, from the Turkish coast.

He also posted a video with a foreigner – with his face hidden – who claims that he was thrown into the sea by Greeks.

The Turkish Minister of Interior comments provocatively, taking aim against Greece, the EU, and Frontex: “Barbarism, cruelty… The Greek Coast Guard threw three migrants into the sea off the Karaanda-Cesme area. Two of them were rescued, one migrant died… The European Union, the messenger of freedom and human rights, is asleep. The tough Frontex must also be held accountable.”

Soylou, who is considered … a constant purveyor of misinformation, as in the immigration crisis of 2020 in Evros can not explain that despite the agreements with the EU Turkish smuggling networks of migrants, continue their illegal acts unhindered. Soylou’s allegations against Greece are strongly featured in the pro-government media in Turkey.
