Greek security officers have taken over the case of the two Turks who crashed their glider on Saturday in the sea area “Bouros” in Karystos, Evia. The two men, 32 and 33 who claimed to be police officers have reportedly asked for political asylum after fleeing Turley.
The two men were initially transferred to the Karystos Health Centre for precautionary reasons, where they were offered first aid. They both seem to be in good health and are now being held at the Central Port Authority of Karystos.
As they said, they had started with the motorised glider from the area of Smyrna, but they ran out of fuel and landed in Karystos. They managed to swim ashore with the help of two fishermen and were picked up by a Coast Guard patrol vehicle. Authorities have formed a case of illegal entry into Greece as they did not have the necessary travel documents.
