New fierce confrontation between Greek MPs & Turkish minister

He went so far as to involve Greece in fostering terrorists along with Sweden & Finland adding that PKK members also have German and French weapons

Newsroom June 15 09:14

The immigration was chosen by Turkish Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu to confront the Greek delegation on the second day of the NATO parliamentary assembly, which is being held in Constantinople.

He directly blamed Greece -but also Frontex, even calling for its abolition- for systematic repatriations to the Aegean, while reiterating what Holusi Akar had said on Tuesday, referring to an -alleged- Greek aid to the PKK.

In fact, he went so far as to involve Greece in fostering terrorists along with Sweden and Finland adding that PKK members also have German and French weapons.

Like yesterday, he received a resounding response from the Greek MPs.

The head of the Greek delegation Spilios Libanos, Manousos Voloudakis and Theodora Tzakri spoke at the meeting.

The Greek MPs clarified that there are no pushbacks in the Aegean -in fact Manousos Voloudakis said that these complaints have been examined by the EU without proving the slightest thing- while they accused Ankara of using immigration as a tool.

With regard to the sponsorship of terrorists -and since Soylu involved a number of countries besides Greece- the Greek deputies pointed out to Erdogan’s minister that he presents a theory of Western conspiracy against Turkey, which is of course not valid.

“We want Turkey as a partner, based on international law, and we wonder what business do you have with us in NATO, if we are a group of countries that support terrorism”, MP Voloudakis said.
