Russia – Turkey: “Contract signed for one more S-400 regiment”

Washington's reaction is expected

Newsroom August 16 05:40

A contract for the delivery of a second regiment of the S-400 missile system was signed by Russia and Turkey, as the head of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSVTS), Dmitry Shugayev, told TASS on the sidelines of the international forum Army-2022 in Moscow .

“A corresponding agreement has already been signed. Among other things, it will allow the local production of some components of the (S-400 Triumf) system in Turkey”, he said.

Shugayev confidently stated that in the coming years, any country is unlikely to design a system that could compete with the S-400 Triumf missile system.

“The contract with Turkey is currently being implemented”, he added.

Turkey became the first NATO country to buy the S-400 air defense system from Moscow in 2017.

Ankara’s decision provoked a negative reaction from the United States and the alliance as a whole.

The United States has not given up its efforts to rid Turkey of the Russian missiles.

As Turkey has not bowed to this pressure, Washington has excluded Ankara from the fifth-generation F-35 fighter jet program and the F-16 program.
