A thug got a nasty surprise when he picked a fight with a teen martial arts world champion only to be got floored by the expert in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Stuart Briggs has admitted to being the person who targeted student Alex Williams in a violent street attack.

Thug Briggs spotted then 16-year-old Alex on a high street before he began targeting him with verbal abuse. He said: “I’m gunna smash your head in” and “I’m gunna stab you down the alley”.

Alex, the multiple junior world champion in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu then jumped into defence mode. As reported by Teesside Live, now-viral video footage showed the moment Alex delivered a signature double leg takedown which allowed him to restrain the fully grown man on the ground.

The coverage appeared in national papers, cementing Alex’s’ martial arts champion status and earning him the nickname ‘The Destroyer’. Briggs, 35 appeared at Teesside Magistrates’ Court on Friday where he pleaded guilty to inflicting GBH without intent for the attack in which he bit a chunk out out the boy’s ear. He will be sentenced next month at Teesside Crown Court.
