Erdogan: “We save lives in the Aegean because we are Muslims. Greeks drown immigrants”

The Turkish President wondered why the US was arming Greece

Newsroom October 5 10:53

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in his speech on Tuesday continued to peddle the false rhetoric that he had developed on the floor of the UN General Assembly regarding what is happening in the Aegean with illegal immigrants. The Turkish president asserted again: “We see how Greek ships drown innocents in the Aegean and the Mediterranean. Have we heard anything from the world?”

Erdogan, as reported by SKAI TV, also claimed that it is Turkey that rescues the immigrants because the Turks, as Muslims, “fulfill the demands of Islam”.

“Our frigates speed up, detect and rescue them from the sea. Because we are Muslims. And we fulfill the demands of our Islamism”, Recep Tayyip Erdogan noted.

These egregious claims by the president of Turkey were made in the same speech in which he also referred to Kyriakos Mitsotakis, about whom he said “The Greek prime minister is asking for help from the US. Against whom? Against Turkey.”

“Whatever you do, we will always do the right thing and we are ready to do it,” added the Turkish president, addressing the Greek prime minister and without giving more details about what exactly he meant.

In the same speech, Erdogan referred to the superiority of Turkey and how it stands out for its economy, its military capabilities, and its contribution to humanitarian issues.
