Greek MP Yanis Varoufakis, the General Secretary of MERA25, was beaten by a group of 20 hooded people outside a restaurant in the Exarchia area, in Athens, Friday night.

According to eyewitness testimonies, about 20 people approached him outside the Yantes restaurant and after they pushed Yanis Varoufakis, they allegedly slapped him and one of them threw him down and kicked him.

The reports state that Yanis Varoufakis did not have police protection with him. Varoufakis was taken to “Evangelismos” hospital with a broken nose.
