Youthful smiles, enthusiasm, and pride filled the centre of Athens from the children taking part in the student parade for the national anniversary of March 25.
With the band playing marching music, the students once again honored the heroes of the revolution of 1821 during the uprising against the Ottoman empire. Among the groups that paraded were those with students who paraded wearing traditional costumes.
The students marched in front of the Parliament before the officials received the applause of those present in Syntagma Square.
Some were in their school uniforms and others in traditional uniforms, the young and old students showed up early in the morning at the centre in order to take their place in their sections that paraded in front of the dignitaries on the podium.
Due to the parade, traffic regulations are in force on the streets around Syntagma Square, something that will also happen tomorrow, Saturday, March 25, for the military parade, while the “Syntagma” Metro station is closed.
