Author J.K. Rowling unloaded on British journalist Patrick Strudwick in a lengthy tweet on Monday, accusing him of running with a demonstrably false story about a “Let Women Speak” event that took place in Australia.
Strudwick claimed in a piece he published at iNews that the group had “staged a mass Nazi salute” – a claim that Rowling said was easily disprovable — but she lamented the fact that he had blocked her on Twitter, making it impossible for her to challenge him directly.
“As @PatrickStrud has blocked me on here (we’ve never, to my knowledge, interacted on Twitter or anywhere else) I can’t challenge him directly about the claim he published in iNews (see below) that a Let Women Speak event in Australia ‘staged a mass Nazi salute,’” Rowling’s extensive tweet began. “This is a lie so brazen, so easily disprovable and so libelous, I’m amazed it was allowed into print by a supposedly reputable news source.”
