Kyriakos Mitsotakis: The US decision to give us the F-35 is very important

Mitsotakis said the Greek Armed Forces were in a better state since ND came to power

Newsroom June 2 01:20

Speaking at Corinth ND leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis said the decision by the US Congress to approve the sale of F-35 jets to Greece was very important.

Mitsotakis sent a message that “the work must continue” for Greece to finally turn the page during his campaign tour as the June 25 run-off elections approach.

“The country still needs another four years of New Democracy to be able to finally turn the page, to make the big leap towards Europe, to be able to maintain this high growth that we have achieved, and to be sure that this development ultimately has an imprint on the life of every Greek citizen,” said Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

He also pointed out that “the great popular progressive faction of the country is New Democracy. Because we have always had a duty to support the weakest, and of course, we have always been friends who put great emphasis on national issues. You know what important work was done in the previous four years to strengthen the country’s position. You know that we received a country of unripe vines and today Greece has borders both at sea and on land”.

“You know the situation in which our Armed Forces were and yesterday, just yesterday, the American Congress made a very important decision. It formally gave its approval for the acquisition by our country of the state-of-the-art F-35 aircraft, ” continued Mr. Mitsotakis and added that “all this did not happen by chance. It was achieved through hard work and that work must continue. Because none of what we have achieved is taken for granted.”

Kyriakos Mitsotakis went on to remind the party supporters that the government of New Democracy was the one that “in the midst of great difficulties, we laid the foundations for a better Greece and the citizens credited us with this and turned their backs, at the same time, on toxicity, hatred, division. Unity, perspective, and hope won this election.”

He also emphasised that “the ballot box on the morning of June 25 will be empty again. The result is not counted in the second election. This is not a football match where we have won 4-0 and are keeping the score for the second leg. Here we are starting from scratch and the goal is one: even higher percentages for the New Democracy everywhere in Greece”.

He announced that the ND government will abolish the pretense fee within four years and will also reduce the presumptions by 30%.
