The president of New Democracy, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, gives an interview to MEGA and the show “Live News” with Nikos Evaggelatos.
Key Point of the Interview
For the new government: The result of round one gives an indication, but the ballot box is now empty, and the citizens should vote. I’m optimistic, but we have to keep a low profile. Respect for the popular verdict is paramount for those who sew ministerial suits.
For the Economy, what to expect in wages: Salaries in the country are low, the average salary will reach 1,500 euros. This can be done by increasing investment and reducing taxation. Businessmen tell me they can’t find workers, I tell them to pay more. Businesses relied heavily on refunds in previous years. Lower unemployment, increased investment, and the reinstatement of collective bargaining can boost wages. For the minimum wage, I’m sure it can reach 950 euros in a 4-year horizon.
For pensions: They increased for the first time and will continue to increase. We will see another increase in 2024 and we will continue to support low-income pensioners. The personal difference will fade as pensions rise.
