SYRIZA has turned into a lot of turbulence just a few hours after the publication by Stefanos Kasselakis of the questionnaire in iSYRIZA that left open the possibility of a change of name and logo in the party, five days before the congress.

This was followed by fiery statements from prominent members of the opposition who were emptying the party president, such as Mrs. Gerovassili and Spirtzis and Rigas, and a response from the secretary of the parliamentary group, Mrs. Tzakri, who spoke of chieftains.

A short time later in a social media post, Stefanos Kasselakis insisted, calling on everyone to enter the questionnaire in order to “strengthen the only alternative to the governmental dystopia, and support my effort”.

“The progressive world from 2019 is shouting at us to “change everything”,” Stefanos Kasselakis stressed in his post – response.

“I urge all SYRIZA members to fill out the questionnaire,” he stresses, adding that “your answers will be a help for me and for the party’s organs in our decisions. We are not talking here about polls in news bulletins but about a process of internal party democracy”.

“In the SYRIZA that I envision, the President and the Bodies first listen to the base and then decide, taking it into account. I know that this is something unusual for the political scene in our country, but in order to speak to society again we have to go beyond ourselves and listen to society.

Giving a voice to the members was my main commitment from the very first moment when I ran for President of SYRIZA. After all, the progressive world has been shouting “change everything” at us since 2019.

I urge all SYRIZA members to fill in the questionnaire at https://isyriza.gr/preconference_survey_form . Your answers will be a help for me and for the party organs in our decisions. Meanwhile, SYRIZA executives unleashed fire on the questionnaire of Stefanos Kasselakis on iSYRIZA.

In this context, a direct response came from MP and secretary of the SYRIZA CO, Theodora Tzakri, who stresses that “we will not hesitate to innovate, to break down dogmas, to change ourselves, to overturn hierarchies, to pay the cost, to stand up to the circumstances because the simple change of persons has never been sufficient in history”.

At the same time, raising the tone, he speaks of chieftains. “There is no more room left for procedural objections nor is there room for chieftaincy ambitions at this critical moment,” he says.

Opposition and from Spirtzi

Former SYRIZA minister Christos Spirtzis is not going to complete the questionnaire sent – through iSyriza – to party members by Stefanos Kasselakis, requesting the possibility of changing the name, logo and structures of SYRIZA-PS.

“Many of these are expired issues. I guess the president of SYRIZA is not informed,” he said, speaking on ERT’s morning show. He clarified what kind of party SYRIZA is has ended at the previous congress, noting that identity issues do not end with who is president, but at the congress.
